Lotrin’s F*cked Up House – a fan sequel to They Served Brandolyn Red

Posted by on 10:05 am in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I saw this over on the DCC Rocks – apparently Mr. Shane Hickey is actually taking advantage of one of the “Continuing the Adventure” hooks in our beloved Brandy and creating Lotrin’s Fucked Up House – an adventure where the player’s investigate what happened to Dorthala Whitegrass (who is a significant, albeit unseen, NPC in They Served Brandolyn Red) and is also the wife of Lotrin Whitegrass. I’m looking forward to seeing whatever he comes up with. You can see the post here ; you likely need to join...

Thanks for your support on Alzheimer’s walk

Hello you generous Thick Skullers! I wanted to send a thank you to everyone who supported me in my efforts for the Alzheimer’s walk. In the end I had about 20 people contribute and raised $450! I was pleasantly surprised at how much participation there was and was pleased to connect with some many people in the community. While the promotion is now closed, I look forward to trying this again next year and hope to see many of you at the game table soon. Thanks! Stephen

Frawgs back in stock—last chance for Larvik

Hello Thickskullers! Good news! After being unavailable for several months, I’ve re-loaded the distribution channel with fresh copies of Attack of the Frawgs and The Haunting of Larvik Island so those two products are once again orderable from places like the ever-loyal FRPGames.com. And in a bittersweet development, the shipment I sent them was my last copies of The Haunting of Larvik Island. As of this writing, I have no plans to re-print any copies so once those copies are gone they’ll probably stay gone until the day I eventually finish...

OneBookShelf Content Policy – One Year Later

Posted by on 10:40 pm in Publishing | 0 comments

TL;DR Summary: One year after OneBookShelf implements new content policy, zero books have been banned. Approximately one year ago, the role-playing game PDF behemoth OneBookShelf—the parent company of DriveThruRPG.com, RPGNow.com, DNDClassics.com and other related sites—implemented a new Offensive Content Policy. While OBS had banned one title in the past (the GamerGate card game), the title that catalyzed OBS into clarifying their offensive content policy was Tournament of Rapists – a d20 Modern supplement. You can read the full policy...

2016 Daniel Bishop Birthday Mathom Mini-Review

Posted by on 11:08 pm in Uncategorized | 1 comment

Happy Birthday, Mr. Bishop A couple of weeks ago–and I believe sometime last year as well, although my memory is foggy on this–I was fortunate to be included in a group of folks who receive a free adventure from prolific author and gentleman judge, Mr. +Daniel Bishop to help celebrate his birthday. While I’d missed the original posting on the blog, apparently to be eligible to receive the mathom, you needed to post a review of something he’d written and link to it in the comments. As Daniel has been superb about posting...

My submission “50 Meaningful Motivations for NPCs” made it into that book, but sadly, this little gem did not. Hopefully this lonely table can find a loving home somewhere in your campaign. Grab the PDF one-sheet here! 50 Unpleasant Side Effects by Stephen Newton Your wizard mixing potions again? Your ranger brush up against an alien fungus? Need to spice up your spellburn? Grab...
