Hello Thick Skullers,
Well as you know, last week was a bit of a doozy for me, losing my friend to cancer and then celebrating his life at wakes, funerals, viewings, etc. I’m slowly trying to get my game head back in order. It will take some time. Here’s a couple of game-related updates:
Haunting of Larvik Island goes Copper
I was pleased to see that The Haunting of Larvik Island reached “Best-Selling Copper” status on RPGNow.com. It took about a year to get there, but it made it. I want to send a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who picked up a copy, and I truly hope you enjoyed reading it, or playing it for your group.
Shaman Print ETA: Around mid November
Also last week I approved the final printer proof for Stronghold of the Wood Giant Shaman. According to the printer, that should be ready to pickup on Nov 3. I will drop it off at the distributor the next day (fortunately for me, both my distributor and my printer are right next to each other on my way to work.) It usually takes the distributor a couple days to get to their retailers, so I suspect you’ll be able to order from places like FRPGames.com around middle of November – in fact they are already taking pre-orders. I’ve started up some conversations with a couple of folks that sell games at cons, so if you attend those, hopefully you’ll see some of my stuff in some booths.
Announcing TSH-005: The New Funnel Adventure
I am (hopefully) just hours away from completing my playtest draft of my new adventure. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I will say this: it’s another funnel adventure (‘cuz I love funnels!) and it’s a bit shorter (probably a bit longer than Attack of the Frawgs.) I wanted to write a new adventure that could be played in one sitting within 4-hours so that judges could play at cons. As much as I love Larvik Island and Shaman, those are big, meaty adventures, and I know they are almost impossible to play in one sitting. I may actually try to distribute this one through a different publisher, but we shall see… we will see how I feel after “birthing” the playtest draft to see how comfortable I am giving it away.
WTF, dude, where is The Lost Tower of Ivok the Mad (aka Larvik 2)?
Hmmm, not sure what to say on this one other than, it’s already 18K words long (aka longer than Shaman), and that’s AFTER trimming about 10K words from it which now comprise a potential future Campaign Guide and smaller standalone mini module. And yet, when I read it I think, “Hmmm… this is not flowing the way I want it to…” There is a fun module in there that is dying to be played, but I’m really picky about what I publish with my name on it and I want it to just… feel… right. I will look at it again after I finish the playtest for TSH-005 to see what can be done with it.
That’s the latest folks, hope everyone is well.
